C. Robert LinneDecember 20, 1943 – November 2, 2013C. Robert Linne was born in Evanston, Illinois, on December 20, 1943, the son of Carl Robert Linne and Elsa Merriman Linne. Following his father's return from World War II Bob lived with his parents and brother, William V. Linne, in Danville, Illinois. The family moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1956. After graduating from Fort Myers High School in 1962, Bob received B. A. degree from Northwestern University, studied at Harvard University Divinity School from 1967-1970 and at Northwestern University where he received his Ph.D. He also received an M.A. degree from Michigan State. He was an Assistant Professor at Florida State University from 1976 to 1980 and an instructor at Edison College from 1981-2002. He also worked with at-risk youth and their families in therapeutic foster case and was a Program Director of a network of services provided to these families. In addition he was a therapist at Lee Mental Health. He worked as a legal assistant for the Avard Law Offices in Fort Myers from 1999 until his death, Bob had a strong faith and committed his life to following the recommendations of Jesus in Matthew 25: 40'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' Bob lived his entire life helping those who no one else would help. Bob is survived by his foster son, Adam Wayne Smith (Jennifer) and his brothers, William V. Linne (Shirley), Gregory Linne and Andrew J. Linne, his step-mother, Mary Linne, two nieces, Sarah Linne Sluder (Mike) and Virginia Linne Pope (Josh), and his three special "grandchildren", Skylar Smith, Adam Smith and Alyson Smith. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (2635 Cleveland Ave.) on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 A. M., The Rev. Philip D. Read II, SSC officiating. The family will greet visitors prior to the service. Memorials may be made in Bob's honor to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
