Memorial Day

May 21, 2020 May 25, 2020 - 6pm

It is with deepest regrets that due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Memorial Day Remembrance event at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens has been cancelled.
While the formal ceremony scheduled for Monday has been cancelled, Fort Myers Memorial Gardens encourages the residents and citizens of our Lee County Communities to search for ways to honor our country’s fallen heroes. Consider recognizing the holiday in your own home, fly a flag, play patriotic music, and talk to your children about the sacrifices made by our veterans. Perhaps you might stop by and walk through our cemetery grounds and observe the thousands of flags decorating the sacred resting place of those who so proudly served our country. There are plenty of ways to recognize our fallen brothers and sisters.
It saddens us to cancel events such as our traditional Memorial Day ceremony, because it’s our way to impart the true meaning of this holiday to our community; so that we all have a better understanding that Memorial Day is about honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. As time progresses, we will continue to reassess our ability to hold events. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
