Andre Labbe was born in Port au Prince Haiti on January 20, 1950 to Haitian parents Leon and Andrea Labbe as the youngest of three children. In 1990, he moved to the US where he resided until his death. Andre a dietary assistant at the Disney Hotel before his passing, is a recognized artist here and abroad. His works include impressionist painting and contemporary art. Andre started his artistic journey in 1969 at the atelier Maitre Dieudonne Cedor. He was a graduate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Haiti and completed advanced studies under the Grand Masters at the French Institute. He has received several awards and recognitions. The mayor of Fort Myers hosted a fine art exhibition In November of 1992; there, Andre won an award for his work “Celebration”. His fascinating artwork will continue to be appreciated and considered a success. As a husband, he was loyal and supportive; as a father he took good care of his children. He was a reserved and very independent man. After his divorce from his wife Jackie, he moved to Orlando where he lived on his own for the past six years, and after suffering a major stroke on December 1, 2020 he got admitted to Advent Health Hospital in Orlando FL where he died on January 6, 2021. He was 70 years old. He is survived by 2 older sisters Louisa and Eveline; three sons Fritz, Doudy and Junior Labbe. He also has six grand children and various nieces and nephews. He loved his family dearly and was well loved. A Funeral Service for Andre will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests are invited for a period of Visitation for one hour preceding this ceremony beginning at 10:00 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these ceremonies, guests will recess to adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery where Andre will be laid to rest inside the Garden of Serenity. Please be advised that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, visitors to the funeral home are requested to follow appropriate social distancing guidelines, including the requirement that all guests submit to temperature screening when entering and wear a mask while inside the building.
