January 8, 1941 - January 5, 2021
Edith (Tangen) Warren, 79, of Lehigh Acres, FL went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, January 5, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, at home with her husband of 59 and a half years, Samuel Warren. Born January 8, 1941 in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York, to Audrey and Henry Olaf Tangen, Edith was the second of seven siblings. Her early childhood was spent in rural upstate New York in the dairy farming country of the Mohawk Valley. She attended Houghton College in Houghton N.Y. where she met Sam, and they married on June 17, 1961. She later graduated from Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y. with a BA in Elementary Education. They were blessed with a large family; three girls and four boys. Edith loved children and worked outside of the home for many years as an elementary teacher in Pearl River, NY, East Point, GA and Waukegan, IL. When Sam and Edith moved the family to Urbandale, Iowa, Edith began a new career as a foster mother. During the next 25 years, Edith nurtured and provided a home for over 100 children who desperately needed a loving family. In 2011, Sam and Edith moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida near Fort Myers. They enjoyed Florida, especially living in Beacon Square Homeowners Association, near her beloved siblings. In 2018, Sam and Edith graduated into full retirement, and in 2019, took a lifelong dream trip to Israel. Edith was a woman of stalwart faith. She loved her Lord, and everyone around her knew her as a strong Christian woman. She passed this legacy onto her children, grandchildren, and countless others. She was a woman of grace, wisdom and steadfastness. She leaves behind her husband, Samuel Warren, four sons: Erik (Joyce) Warren; Andrew (Susan May) Warren; Albert (Carol) Warren, Samuel Jr. (Melissa) Warren: two daughters: Karen (Douglas) Lambert; and Rebecca Warren. She joins in heaven her oldest daughter Marilyn, who passed away in 2017. In addition to the seven children, Edith has twenty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is remembered fondly by her church family at McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers, FL, and will be deeply missed by all. A Memorial Service for Edith will be held at McGregor Baptist Church at 2:00 pm, Saturday January 9, 2021 in Room H100 of the Hope Building. Reception to follow service.
