Louise Marie Durham

Born January 27, 1922, one-hundred-year-old Louise Marie Durham, a resident of Fort Myers, FL since 1994, formerly of Chesapeake, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2022 under the care of Hope Hospice. She was born in Terra Ceia, North Carolina to the late John and Lilly Jane (nee Martin) Russ. Louise was a loving wife, caring mother and kind, gentle soul. She was affectionately known as “Mama”, not only to her children, but to all who knew her for any length of time. Her favorite things were preparing delicious southern-cooked meals for family and friends and spending time with her children. She was a long-time member of Riverside Baptist Church and could be found greeting all who graced the doors of the church on Sunday with the church bulletin. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Durham and her daughter, Diane Owens. Louise is survived by her five loving children, Billy Durham (Priscilla) of Phoenix, AZ, Jack Durham (Linda) of The Villages, FL, Gloria Meadors (Gary) of Fort Myers, FL, James W. Durham (Kathy) of Kennard, TX and Rex Durham (Lori) of Lehigh Acres, FL; nine grandchildren, Louis, Tom, Jessica, Ivan, Jaclyn, Brandon, Kevin, Sarah and Shane; 10 great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends. A visitation will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 25, 2022 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 25, 2022 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at the Garden of Peace inside Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Church Building Project (providenceswfl.com) in loving memory of Louise Marie Durham.
