Marjorie (“Margie”) V. Gundling, 87, died November 20, 2020, at the Westminster St. Augustine Nursing Home in St. Augustine, Florida. She was born March 14, 1933 in Seat Pleasant, Maryland to Virginia Lucille Arnold and John Keller Newgent. She went to school and grew up in Maryland. She married Raymond (“Ray”) B. Gundling on August 14, 1953 at the Seat Pleasant Methodist Church. She was the Branch Manager at Suburban Federal Savings & Loan in Clinton, Maryland from 1973 until her retirement in 1996. Marjorie was an avid Washington Redskins football fan who enjoyed attending the games at the old RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. Her favorite food was steamed Maryland blue crabs. They lived in White Plains, Maryland until 1996, when they moved to N. Fort Myers, Florida. Marjorie was a former member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed supporting and doing volunteer work with the United Methodist Church in N. Fort Myers, Florida until 2013, when she moved away. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Raymond. Survivors include: brother John (“Jack”) M. Newgent of Leesburg, Florida; daughters Pamela L. Gundling (Yager) and her husband Todd of Pinellas Park, Florida; and Karen L. Gundling (Luteran) and her husband Joseph of St. Augustine, Florida; grandchildren Thomas A. Tewell, Jr., Travis A. Tewell and his wife Kristen, Michelle D. Luteran (Busch) and her husband Frederick (Fred), Cheryl A. Luteran (Strackbein) and her husband Jamie, and Virginia (Ginee’) Luteran; great-granddaughters Isabella (Bella) Tewell, Haley Busch, Chelsea Busch, Ashley Strackbein and great-grandson Connor Strackbein. She also leaves behind extended family members including: Elaine Arnold and Linda Nelson of Ridge, Maryland; Steve and Lynn Arnold of Crystal River, Florida; and Greg and Louise Floyd of Bethany Beach, Delaware. Interment will be at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, Fort Myers, Florida, on a date yet to be determined. Arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Fort Myers, Florida.
