Zenaida Lumibao Pineda

On Friday, February 4, 2022, Zenaida “Aida” L. Pineda, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 82 in Cape Coral, FL. Aida was born October 18, 1939 in Mayantoc, Tarlac, Republic of the Philippines (RP) to Vicente and Feliza (Malong) Lumibao. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and graduated with honors from the University of the Philippines. She passed the CPA board in RP among the top ten candidates and went on to earn a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Wisconsin. She taught as a professor of economics at the University of the East, where she met a young math professor named Cesar and fell in love. They married in 1966 and emigrated to the United States in 1967, where Aida served as a Foreign Service Officer and economic specialist for the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC. She became an officer at Riggs Bank in Washington, D.C., then worked as an internal auditor at SallieMae (also in D.C.), all the while earning related certifications (CIA, CISA, CBA, CFE), and retired as an information systems auditor for the Fairfax County government in Fairfax, VA. Aida loved music and taught her young children their first pieces on the piano. She loved reading, crocheting, traveling, singing, and dancing. She participated in ballroom dance competitions and taught line dancing at the Lake Kennedy community center in Cape Coral. Both she and her husband, Cesar, were active members of the Filipino-American Association of Southwest Florida. She was known for her energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to her parish community. She was a caring, devoted mother and showered her grandsons with affection and love. She is survived by her three children, Deanna, Michele, and Jerome; two grandchildren, Logan and Luke; her cousin, Estrella C. Murphy; and many other cousins, nephews, and nieces. She is greatly missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial for Cesar and Zenaida will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 10, 2022 inside the Main Sanctuary at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Boulevard, Cape Coral, Florida 33904, (239) 574-4545. At the conclusion of Mass, friends and family will travel to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555 where Cesar and Zenaida will be laid to rest at the Green Lea Estates section. Following the burial, a reception will be held at Pinchers, 5991 Silver King Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33914.
