She started 1st grade in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated with a high school class of seventeen in 1949. In the early 1950’s while Paula lived with her electrician father in NYC, she worked in the advertising department of Lever Brothers in their new glass high rise on Park Avenue. Through her father’s connections, she was able to attend the opera and Broadway shows. She married Robert (Bob) Scott in 1954 and they moved to Rochester, NY where they raised four children. They also purchased a farm in Windham to vacation close to their families. When Bob started Lilac Time, a perfume company, Paula helped sell the product in Rochester’s famous Highland Park. When Bob’s company bought the Jackson & Perkins Rose Garden in Newark, NY, Paula managed a gift shop on the grounds. In 1974, Paula and Bob moved to Fort Myers Beach, FL where she became “The Lady in the Hat” in the children’s section of the library and later the librarian’s assistant and coordinator of volunteers. After moving off the beach, she continued to enjoy reading through her book club. Paula loved plants and flowers and cared for several pets, the last of which was Gizmo, a ferret! She also enjoyed music – both singing and playing the piano. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, friend and a good listener. She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Abe) Ofer, Lizanne (Thomas) Perchoux, Robert (Lesley) Scott and Jennifer Scott, three grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Fisher, Kyle and Michelle Scott and the children of her sisters Joan (Hauser) Buoniconto and Carroll (Hauser) Ioele. She is preceded by her husband Bob, sisters and parents Albert and Marion (Van Loan) Hauser. She will be laid to rest with Bob in Windham, NY. The Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Paula. Condolences may be left to the family at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
