Adelaide Gail Hamley's Obituary
Adelaide Gail Hamley of Fort Myers, FL passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at Shellpoint Nursing Pavilion of Fort Myers, FL. She was 85. Adelaide was born March 2, 1929 in Fort Worth, TX to the late Holman Robert and Mary Adams. She attended Phillips University in Enid Oklahoma and worked for Stuart Hall Greeting Card Co as head of Human Resources until her retirement. She was married October 15, 1965 to her best friend, Laurence Hamley, recently celebrating 49 years together. They moved to Fort Myers in 2000. She loved painting and drawing as a child and returned to painting as an adult. She won several prizes in many local competitions, first in Kansas City and then in Ft Myers where she was active for several years in the Ft Myers Art Guild. Adelaide was also active in Westminster Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers and the Shell Point retirement community. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Krikpatrick Adams and Rosemary Kimball. She is survived by her husband, Laurence Elmer Hamley; siblings, Roweena Poore of Enid, OK and Marie (Vaughn) Mathews of Ponca City, OK. She was also loved by her several surviving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
