Adrian P George's Obituary
Adrian P. George was born in the borough of Manhattan, New York on February 18, 1953. HE was the youngest of six boys born of Leander and Eudora George's marital union. When Adrian was just eighteen months old, the family moved to St. Albans in Queens, NY, where Adrian spent his formative years in college.
Adrian's grandmother, Aida Edgehill, who he idolized and called his "Queen", and his mother Eudora, were his mainstays as Leander, a merchant seaman, was required to be away at sea for extended periods of time. As the youngest child with an eight- year gap between he and his next brother, Adrian was adept at getting what he wanted. He was outgoing attention- seeking, carefree and really spoiled. Adrian did everything with his mother and he adored her.
Adrian started grammar school at P.S. 136 and was rapidly transferred to the P.S. 147's accelerated program. Alway an achiever at Francis Lewis H.S., Adrian excelled academically and in extracurricular activities, notably track and field. He was school president and captain of the track team. Adrian earned a bachelor's in economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He studied Abroad at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Later, he returned to earn his MBA at Harvard University.
Adrian's professional career included stints as a page with New York State Senator Buckley; First Harlem Securities Corp. NYSE; Executive Director, Account Manager, Ogilvey & Mather INC, and Regional Manager at Home Box Office Time Inc.
Ultimately, Adrian established a "private cable" installation company with a partner and ended his career as Chief Financial Officer, and Sr. VP of Administration for Sante Fe Construction Inc.
Adrian could easily be adorned with the term "Renaissance Man." He had many talents and areas of knowledge and was generally competent and had an understanding of multiple different fields. He was a widely read critical thinker and an adept problem solver who loved learning. He enjoyed various types of musical genres. He relished advising others in their endeavors. Strikingly, Adrian retained much of what he read, a feature of his photographic memory.
Adrian had a sense of humor and enjoyed the jokester role, but he was always considerate of others and was willing to assist when needed.
In the last eight months, Adrian's health deteriorated and although he worked hard to overcome his health issues in the end, it was time for him to return to his maker.
Adrian leaves his wife, Marjorie Millett-George, brothers- Dalton, Vincent and Eduardo. His Aunt Adina, Cousin Diane and many nieces and nephews and cousins; childhood friends Walter Knight, Elbert Lewis, Watu/Brent James, his business partner Desmond Emanuel and adopted son and daughter, Shurod Brown and Marjorie Sespides McCray and many other friends. He will be sorely missed by his adopted family, the Millett's.
Love you, A.
Love, your high school sweetheart, and wife,
