Adrienne Gudvangen's Obituary
Adrienne Gudvangen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the age of 82.
Adrienne was born on July 20, 1942, in Fertile, Minnesota, she lived a life filled with love, creativity, and cherished connections.
Known for her remarkable talent, wit, and pragmatism, she was the heart of her family and a straight shooter, intuitively knowing what was needed in any situation. She offered wisdom and guidance with just the right mix of judgment and compassion, understanding the complexities of life and the importance of giving space for growth.
Adrienne was blessed with a love that spanned a lifetime. She and her beloved husband, Maynard, shared 65 years of marriage built on devotion, partnership, and an enduring bond that carried them through every season of life. They lived life together—finding joy in the simple moments, laughter in the everyday, and comfort in each other’s presence. Going to car shows, gardening, or simply sitting side by side, their love was constant, a foundation upon which their family was built.
A mother to four sons—Guy, Brian, Bobby, and Greg—she was their maternal rock, demonstrating integrity, resilience, and quiet strength. She approached challenges with quiet stoicism, never seeking attention for her sacrifices.
In her later years, Adrienne and Maynard adopted their beloved dog, Shiloh, a rescue who made his way to her heart so much so that she shared her ice cream (everything below the thumb) and would take him to the dog park just so that he could poop comfortably.
Outside of her family, she found joy in a multitude of creative pursuits. She was a skilled quilter; her intricate designs showcased her artistry and tested her patience. She also excelled at sewing, embroidery, and ceramics, creating beautiful and lasting pieces that will be treasured by her family and friends for years to come.
Luckily for her family, Adrienne was also a skilled baker, filling every family gathering with pies, cookies, and other delicious treats. She loved baking with her grandchildren and passed on her talent, palette, and passion in a way that, though her body will no longer grace our tables, her spirit and recipes will.
Adrienne is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Maynard Gudvangen; her 4 sons; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She often attributed the size of her loving family to an auspicious beginning, humorously remarking, "All because I got laid." She was preceded in passing by her parents, George and Gladys Peterson.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation in her honor on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. for a viewing followed by a 3:00 pm Funeral Service. Burial will be held at a later date.
