Al Closson's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the Closson family announces the death of the family patriarch, Al Closson. Al was 86 years old. He was a great father, husband, and friend. His mischievous personality and wry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. Al was a combat wounded Korean War veteran and, member and regular at most of the Fort Myers veterans clubs and the Moose Lodge as well. Al loved the outdoors and his property reflected this fact. His property looked more like a golf course than a residential property. Al Closson moved to Fort Myers 26 years ago from Massachusetts. He loved southwest Florida. He said he never felt more at home than when he found Fort Myers in his travels after he retired and traveled with his wife Barbara in their RV. Al leaves behind his loving wife Barbara and his sister-in-law Nicky who has resided with them for 15 years. Al also leaves behind his three children; Al, Doreen, and William, their wives and husband and 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as, three of his seven sisters; Alice, Rena, and Dorothy. A visitation will be held from 5 – 7 PM Friday, November 11, 2016 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. Cremation rites will follow with inurnment at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be left to Al’s family at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
