Albert Carl Hotwagner's Obituary
Albert Carl Hotwagner, age 92, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his home in Fort Myers, Florida. Albert (“Al”) was born October 15, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Carl and Julianne Hotwagner. He was a resident of Saugatuck, Michigan and Fort Myers, Florida after living much of his life in East Lansing, Michigan.Albert entered the US Army in July, 1944 weeks after graduating high school and served our great county with honor. He was wounded on May 8th, 1945 and returned to Chicago where he met his wife Jean (Solazzo), and married on January 8th, 1949. They spent almost 69 years together in marriage.He founded Jean Cement Contracting that same year and later was owner of Universal Form Clamp Company of Michigan, Lansing, until retiring in 1986. He was cofounder of the Valley Bank of Elgin, Illinois and the First Bank of Palatine, Ill.Al loved boating, fishing, and being on the water. He loved golfing with his friends and family and was a devoted member of every community he was part of throughout his life. He was a great son, brother, father, and grandfather to 5 grandchildren. He lived each day with a purpose. He was driven and ambitious. He always had a smile and a joke to share. He was always helping everyone in their daily lives.He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jean; sons, Mike (Hazel) Hotwagner, Thomas (Theresa) Hotwagner; and James; daughter, Anne (Marty) Coffin; grandchildren, Chris Hotwagner, Stuart Hotwagner, Blake Hotwagner, A.J. Hotwagner, and Ashley Hotwagner.Albert was preceded in death by his sister, Mary (Geschke). Albert will be fondly remembered by hundreds of people of whom he touched in his lifetime.Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907.
