I have known Fred for over 60 years and we became friends even before I met him. I was new in Cincinnati and wanted to join a boating club, but I needed a sponsor to get in. I mentioned this problem to a mutual friend who called Fred and explained it all to him. I could head Fred shout "he does now". We were very close over the years, both in good times and bad times and always there to support each other. I will miss him but thankful that I had him as a good friend. Mel Bronston
One memory!! I could share many memories. We moved on Antoninus Drive in 1966. Fred and Betty were great neighbors. They came to our annual neighborhood 3rd of July party at the Rapien home until they moved to Florida. Fred was very good about remembering our Birthdays and keeping in touch. We treasured the times he visited when he and Betty would come to Cincinnati–especially their last visit. We were so grateful that Fred gave us a copy of his War Memories Book. That is treasured. When my Ben died February 3, 2015, Fred offered his sympathy. Fred loved life. He had a rich, full life. I'm sure he is loving his new life, too. Fred was great…a personal favorite in our Mariners group. We were almost 50 years apart in age but could enjoy talking about anything like ol' college chums.
He was a very kind man and a wonderful friend to our parents. I hope that he and Harvey are once again boating together- Jennifer Immerman
