For Alison from Neil & Margaret – ScotlandItâ??s not the fact that we donâ??t know what to include in a testimony for Alison, itâ??s what we can possibly leave out. Truth be told, we would rather write nothing at all, because that way we can pretend sheâ??s still with us. A true friend who asked nothing in return, she was stronger than us all and was always the go-to person for answers and solutions to any problem, large or small, which makes it so hard to accept her passing. She was a champion of those who felt they had no voice and would take up a lost cause and handle it more adeptly than a city lawyer. I am reminded of a quote by Pope Paul VI: â??If you want peace, work for justiceâ?. Here was a lady who didnâ??t have the luxury of a privileged background or education, but could still stand shoulder to shoulder with her peers and demand fair dealing for her family & friends. Her grandchildren brought her joy every day and the simple moments spent together with them, gave so many priceless moments to be remembered. Some say that grandchildren are Godâ??s gift to grandparents .. I'd like to say that Alison was God's gifts to her grandchildren. When Alison talked people listened (and if you didnâ??t listen, well â?¦. Letâ??s just say you were out of favour). Taking prisoners was not an option for Alison she knew her own mind and knew who her friends were. She was fiercely loyal to those who befriended her or her family and repaid that allegiance with great love and affection. Personally we had no better friend; every day spent with her was a special day for us.They say that blood makes you related, but loyalty makes you family. We consider Alison to be our sister and no matter where life takes us, we will always have her hand.Rest in peace knowing you are loved.Godâ??s Blessings.Neil & Margaret
