Our many condolences to the Schmidt family. Kara and I will miss Al deeply. One of the most intelligent and passionate men either of us had the pleasure of knowing. We could discuss politics, pop culture, or just life like we had known Al our entire lives. He would stay with Kara if she was closing alone to make sure she was safe because that was just the type of man he was. He lived more in his short time than many people do in 100 years and we are better people for knowing him. You will be missed Al, but as Obi-Wan said “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”
So sorry you had to go. You were someone I looked forward to talking to. You always listened intently, and responded kindly. I will miss you, Al.God speed, my friend.
Our sympathies to Al’s family members at this sad time. My husband Tom and I met Al just in the past two years through a recently formed home-brewers club here in Cape Coral. We enjoyed his sense of humor, enthusiasm, and conversations –from reliving Hurricane Irma experiences to discussing the challenges of caring for elderly family members–and our group certainly will miss him.
