Alonzo Frank "AF" Hendry's Obituary
Alonzo Frank (AF) Hendry, 86, a lifelong Fort Myers, FL resident passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born October 3, 1936 in Fort Myers, FL to the late Emmett and Georgia (Gatlin) Hendry.
AF was a proud United States Army Veteran, where he graduated BootCamp as a paratrooper. Returning to Fort Myers from service, after trying his hand at a few employment opportunities he found his niche in drywall and began his own drywall business. He was a dedicated professional in that field until his retirement. He loved fishing and hunting but his latest passion was for golfing. He was a member of the San Carlos Golf Club for over 23 years. He enjoyed those years of competition with playful and antagonistic camaraderie with many fellow golfers over those years. He enjoyed being able to boast of achieving a hole in one, every golfers dream.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Christiane Hendry, and his older brother, Dick Hendry.
AF is survived by his children, Debbie Conrad of Cape Coral, FL and Tom Hendry (Teresa) of Fort Myers, FL; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held 6:00 PM, Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00 PM until the service time at the funeral home.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Fort Myers, FL.
