Ambrose N. Novatin's Obituary
Ambrose N. Novatin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, in Winter Haven, Florida. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in love for his family and a life rich with purpose and devotion.
Ambrose was born on August 1, 1937, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Joseph J. and Theresa (Yuelling) Novatin. He was raised in Newark, where he developed the strong sense of family and community that guided him throughout his life.
As a teenager, Ambrose moved with his family to Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey. It was there, on Pacific Boulevard, that he met the love of his life, Theresa. Their relationship began in 1952 and grew into a lifelong partnership. They were married in 1961 in Keyport, New Jersey.
The couple began their life together in South Amboy, New Jersey, before settling in Hazlet, New Jersey, where they built their home and raised their family. Their years there were filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Ambrose proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve, enlisting in October 1960 and receiving an honorable discharge in June 1966.
He began his professional career at Electronic Associates Incorporated (EAI) in Eatontown, New Jersey, working in manufacturing. He later joined Dranetz Technologies in Edison, New Jersey, where he served as a production manager for over two decades. Known for his strong work ethic and natural ability to fix and build things, Ambrose took great pride in his work.
Ambrose and Theresa were blessed with two daughters, Deborah and Karen, whom he loved dearly. A devoted father, he made sure his family shared special experiences together, including annual summer trips to destinations such as California, Hawaii, Montana, and Florida. Over time, he developed a deep love for Fort Myers and Sanibel, Florida—places that would eventually become his home in retirement.
In 2001, Ambrose retired to Jamaica Bay in Fort Myers, Florida. Though “technically retired,” he remained active and engaged. He enjoyed exercising, working on projects around the house, and maintaining his car. He also formed meaningful friendships and took an active role in his community.
Ambrose was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Theresa E. Novatin (2017), father, Joseph Sr. (1973) mother, Theresa (2001), as well as his brothers Joseph Jr. (2023) and Robert (1991).
He is survived by his loving daughters, Deborah Whalen and her husband Jay of North Carolina, and Karen Glenn and her husband Albert of Florida. He was a proud grandfather to Daniel (Allison) Whalen, Brittany (Shawn) O’Neil, and Ian Hoffman, and a devoted great-grandfather to Harper. He is also survived by his niece, Nicole Novatin, and his great-nieces, Ashley and Theresa.
A graveside celebration of Ambrose’s life will be held on August 1, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida, for close family and friends.
