Amy Joann Harlacher Smith, 68, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida.
Born on April 23, 1957, in Fort Myers, Florida, Amy was the beloved daughter of Dan and Edith Harlacher and the youngest sibling of Dan and Tom Harlacher. She grew up surrounded by family and carried those close bonds with her throughout her life.
Amy pursued a degree in Business and built a respected career spanning accounting, payroll, human resources, property management, and leadership roles. She contributed her talents to General Electric and several regional and local organizations, where she was known for her diligence, professionalism, and steady leadership.
Above all, Amy valued her family deeply. She found joy in spending quality time with loved ones and built lasting relationships grounded in kindness and care. Her selfless devotion was most evident in her role as the primary caregiver to her mother, whom she lovingly supported through nearly a century of life. This profound act of dedication stands as a defining part of her legacy and will always be cherished by those who knew her.
Amy is survived by her brother, Tom Harlacher; her nieces, Sierra Butler (Jesse), Aeriel McCann (Jenna), and her nephew, Brant Harlacher (Julio); and her great-nephew, Bennett Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Edith Harlacher, and her brother, Dan Harlacher.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved dog, Scout, and her family finds comfort in imagining their joyful reunion.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 11:30 AM at Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Amy’s name.
Amy will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence brought comfort and strength to those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
