Anthony H Genovese's Obituary
Anthony H. Genovese, 82, a 38 year resident of North Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Long Island, New York passed away Monday, December 28, 2020. He was born November 15, 1938 in Danbury, CT.
Anthony was a proud United States Air Force Veteran. He was a second-generation watchmaker. He learned the trade from his father-in-law, Charles Marchese. He was known as Tony in his profession. He was in charge of running our families jewelry store in Smithtown, NY. Tony worked for Rolex of New York and was one of the first watchmakers to be certified. He moved to Fort Myers area in 1982 where he established his business, Genovese Watch Repair. He was very well respected and known as the best. If there was a watch to be fixed everyone in town knew to go to Tony, especially if it was a Rolex.
In the 1950’s, Tony formed a band, The Nassau Ramblers. He was the lead trumpet player. They has the opportunity to open for Bill Haley and The Comets. He loved 50’s Doo-Wop music and always loved sharing it with his family and friends.
Tony loved his cars especially his mustangs. He was a longtime member of the Mustang Club of America. He won numerous awards and trophies at car shows all over Florida. One of his Saleens were featured in a Hot Rod Magazine as one of the 10 hottest Mustangs. He also won trophies for drag racing, diving and swimming. Tony loved Pomeranian dogs, especially his dog Vinny.
Tony’s sense is humor was enjoyed by everyone who knew him. He has a special wit about him and always enjoyed laughing and having a great time. He enjoyed telling stories, and those of us who knew him well, we heard them over and over again. He was an amazing father. He worked very hard to provide for his family. The sacrifices he made as a father will always stay with us. He was our dad, the best dad.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rosaria Genovese of North Fort Myers, FL; three daughters, Alicia Genovese (Maryanne) of Port Jeff Station, NY, Andrea Genovese of Smithtown, NY and Tonianne Tsavaris (Dino) of Victor, NY; one brother, Vincent Genovese (Marion) of Mannerville, NY; two sisters, Mary Nina Podesta (John) of Long Island, NY and Rosie Mauro of Fort Myers, FL; four adored grandchildren, Francesca, Anthony, Charles and George; his godson, Gerry Sabanos of Coral Springs, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. Anyone attending the service for Anthony the funeral home requires everyone to wear a mask and all temperatures will be taken at the doors. We ask that everyone follows the CDC Guidelines regarding social distancing.
