Anthony "Hank" DeSanctis' Obituary
Anthony “Hank” DeSanctis, 92, known as “Poppy” to his adoring grandchildren, passed away on August 21, 2025, at home in Cape Coral, FL, surrounded by family.
Born on June 26, 1933, to Austin and Mae DeSanctis, he was raised in Westfield, NJ. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served for four years during the Korean War aboard numerous carriers.
In 1960, he married the love of his life, Martha Mastrangelo. They were together for 65 years and raised their three children in Union and Hunterdon Counties, NJ. Hank first worked as a barber, owning several shops before moving into sales. Over the course of his career, he worked in a variety of industries, including car sales, synthetic oil, and real estate ventures. A passionate golfer, he was a longtime member of Oak Hill Golf Club for 25 years. He and Martha started spending winters in Cape Coral, Florida, in 2005 and made it their full-time home in 2013.
Hank’s greatest love and joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, their three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A one-of-a-kind character, Hank will long be remembered for his countless colorful stories, playful pranks and jokes, Spike Jones impressions, dance moves, bread baking, political and religious fervor, diehard support of the NY Giants, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering stubbornness.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Hank’s memory by spending time with your loved ones, playing a round of golf, or making a donation to your favorite charity.
