Archie B Blackwell's Obituary
Archie B. Blackwell, 77, of Fort Myers, passed away Thursday September 17, 2009 following a brief illness. He was born January 15, 1932 in Perry, Fl and moved to Fort Myers from Bartow in 1955. He founded and was CEO of Southern Machine and Steel, Inc. from 1958 until the present. He was also a member and trustee of Cypress Lake United Methodist Church and member of the National Skeet Shooting Association. Surviving Mr. Blackwell is his wife of 58 years, Betty J. Blackwell; his children: A. Bryan Blackwell (Gwen) of LaBelle, Michael K. Blackwell (Susan) of Fort Myers and Melodie D. DeArmond (William) of Fort Myers; his siblings: William P. Blackwell (June) of Thompson, GA, Leathea M. Nall of Fort Myers, Charles H. Blackwell (Jo) of Columbus, OH and R. John Blackwell (Linda) of Clewiston and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Eugene Blackwell. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday September 21, 2009 at Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, 8570 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, Fl 33919. Private internment will be held at a later time in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 pm on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Fl 33907, 239-936-0555.
