One of my fondest memories with 'Gramma' as I always thought this was how it was spelled for quite some time, was when I was around 11 years old. My parents put me on an airplane-all by myself-and off I went to visit Gramma and Grampa. They always kept me very busy-and Gramma would always, always, beat me at tennis! One beautiful afternoon, Gramma and I went to a farm. I thought we were just going to visit and look around the farm, instead, we got into the thick of it and started pulling ears of corn and string beans-really the first time I began to understand that food actually comes from the ground, in many instances. We worked our butts off in the field, and then brought our harvest back; shucking corn and snapping beans. That may have been THE best corn and beans I'd ever had-but most importantly, it was the time we spent together, I remember laughter, a lot of laughter-and her beautiful smile.
