Arthur Eugene Dettrey's Obituary
Arthur Eugene Dettrey of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on May 8, 2017 following some recent health challenges. He was 80 years old.Arthur was born on July 31, 1936 in Camden, New Jersey. As a young man he proudly served his nation as a member of the United States Air Force. He began his working life at the lighting division of Westinghouse and later worked on a variety of unique lighting projects including illumination of the Alaskan pipeline and specialty lighting required by the United States Navy for its top-secret submarines. After concluding this career, Arthur became the owner of Qwik Pack & Ship and served as its both its leader and the lead consultant who helped others to build their dreams of running a successful business. In addition, Arthur was also a giving, loving and warm individual who was always concerned about others in things both big and small. He was an active promoter of the Galdiolus Food Pantry who always made sure those in his neighborhood donated their unused food for this worthy cause before they returned north for the summer. When he did take a moment to rest, you could usually find him doing one of his favorite pastimes, namely fishing or tennis.He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Julie (Cullison) Dettrey; his sons Michael Dettrey (Diane) of Texas, Craig Dettrey (Kim) of New Jersey and Ricky Dettrey (Dawn) of New Jersey; his grandchildren Megan, Mark and Julia Dettrey; his step-children Christian Caldwell Jr. (Michelle) and Sharon Caldwell (Steven); his step-grandchildren Holly Oswald, Jessica Caldwell, Christian Caldwell III and Preston Myles Caldwell-Turock; his sister Frances Marti and sister-in law Patti Dettrey. Sadly, he was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Crawford Dettrey and Albert “Jimmy” Dettrey.A Memorial Service for Arthur will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Friends will be received for an hour preceding this service beginning at 12:00 Noon also inside the funeral home chapel.
