Artie N. Kelchner's Obituary
Artie N. Kelchner, 89, of Fort Myers, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015. She was born March 29, 1926 in Evansville, IN and moved to Fort Myers in 1959. She was a member of First Christian Church. In 1965, she created the first Sweet Adelines in Fort Myers. Its name was the City of Palms Sweet Adelines. She organized and also directed the group. She served on City Council of Cape Coral during the city’s infancy. Mrs. Kelchner is survived by her children: Nancy Wheeler (husband, Howard) of Fort Myers and Terry Doninger (wife, Bobbie) of Vero Beach; her step-children: Christina Kelchner of Fort Myers and Suzanne Crawford (husband, Pat) of Nashville, TN. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 1993 by her husband of 25 years, George A. Kelchner. Mrs. Kelchner will be laid to rest privately at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
