Babette "Babs" DeYoung Brown's Obituary
Babette "Babs" DeYoung Brown, 81, of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024. Babs was welcomed to the world with her twin sister, Bette Forman, on November 4, 1942 to Joseph and Audrey (Fischer) DeYoung in Washington DC.
Babs has happily called Florida her home for 35 years. Throughout her life she dedicated many years as a condo manager. In her free time, she enjoyed cheering for the Washington Redskins with family and friends, playing Mahjong and bridge. She enjoyed doing any puzzle she could get her hands on. She loved to drive any place she took her fancy and explore. Babs was an avid reader.
Babs is preceded in passing by her parents and her nephew Jeffrey Forman.
Babs leaves behind her loving memory with her survivors, her partner of 20 years Edward Smith, son Todd "TJ" James and his wife Amy, daughter Stephanie Atkins, her twin sister Bette Forman, grandson Christopher James and his wife Renee and great grandchildren Charlotte and Jackson, nephew Brian, many friends and cousins.
A memorial and burial will occur on February 6, 2024 in Washington DC at the Washington Hebrew Congregation Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family has designated Wounded Warriors for memorial contributions. www.woundedwarriorproject.org
Babs' family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Garden with the tender care of her final arrangements.
