Barbara Jean Fries' Obituary
Barbara Jean Fries, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her Loving Family, on May 7, 2026. She was born on April 16, 1934, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to the late Clyde and Bernice Hapner.
Barbara spent her early years in Battle Creek, where she grew up, attended local schools, and formed lifelong friendships. In her younger years, Barbara worked as a waitress, contributing tirelessly to support her growing family.
Later in life, Barbara embraced a new chapter and moved to Florida. It was there she met and married the love of her life Paul Fries. Paul owned Bahama Upholstery in Ft. Myers , which they ran together side by side. Later they sold the business to her son and to this day their legacy continues to thrive. After retirement, she truly flourished—enjoying the sunshine, staying active, and living each day to its fullest. Barbara had a passion for travel, , cherished time spent with friends, her 2 Shih Tzu's Molly and Mandy and especially loved swimming and exercising, always maintaining her vibrant spirit.
Above all, Barbara found her greatest joy in her family. She delighted in being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, creating treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and zest for life touched everyone around her.
Barbara is survived by her beloved children: Sharon Begley (Rick) of Indiana and Timothy Harvey (Sandy) of Florida. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Steven Begley (Laurie), Lisa Griffen (Stephen), Jade Harvey, Jeremy Liebogott, and Ryan Liebogott; and her adored great-grandchildren: Jayde, Gage, Grant, Londyn, Andrew, Grace, and Ella.
Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandy Liebogott.
Family and friends are invited to honor Barbara’s life at a Visitation on Monday, May 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 p.m.
Barbara will be laid to rest immediately following the service.
Barbara Jean Fries will be remembered for her unwavering love, her joyful spirit, and her ability to truly live life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
