Barbara F George's Obituary
Barbara F. George, 85, of Alva, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Cranston, Rhode Island, on December 20, 1939, Barbara was the daughter of the late Lawrence Dibble and Lorraine Paradise. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Karen Nassi.
Barbara graduated from Bryant College and went on to dedicate 20 years of service to the University of Rhode Island, where she was admired for her professionalism and warm spirit.
In her personal life, Barbara found great joy in the simple pleasures—an avid reader, she was rarely seen without a book in hand. She loved traveling, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and spending peaceful days at the beach.
She was married to the love of her life, Raymond H. George, for 62 wonderful years. Together they built a family that was the center of her world. She is survived by her husband Raymond; their two children, Raymond A. George of Tennessee and Robyn Holmes of Florida; and four cherished grandchildren: Samuel and Hannah Holmes, and Chase and Cole George.
Barbara’s warmth and unwavering love will be remembered always.
A private family memorial will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a quiet moment to read a favorite book, walk along the shore, or share a kind word—just as Barbara so often did.
