Barbara Ann Smith, 81, of N. Fort Myers, FL died April 1, 2016 at Pacifica Senior Living Center in Fort Myers, FL. Graveside services in Illinois will be conducted at a later date.Memorials: Gulf Coast Humane Society.Barbara was born September 22, 1934 in Decatur, IL, the only child of John and Dessie (Mitchell) Smith. She was a member of the Roman Catholic faith. Barbara was a school teacher for Joliet Public Schools. Teaching was a great passion and a large part of her life. She retired after many years of service. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing and always managed to have a dog as a loyal companion.Surviving are her cousins Gary Emory and his wife Frances of Murfreesboro, TN and Jim Jones and his wife Jane of Tiskilwa, IL.The Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Barbara.
