Barbara Ann Snyderman's Obituary
Barbara Ann Snyderman, 86, of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully, on June 27, 2025, surrounded by her children with love. She had bravely battled cancer for 18 months.
Barbara was born August 8th, 1938, to Sidney and Rose Silver (Rosensweig) in Lakewood, New Jersey. Following the death of her mother at a very young age, her father remarried, and Ruth Silver became the mother she knew. Barbara loved her teenage years in so many ways, dancing through the 50's, making special friends who lasted a lifetime, and meeting the love of her life at 14 (1952) when Jerry was "the new boy in town from Philly," and their 72 year love story began. As high school sweethearts, they were married on Christmas Day 1956, when Jerry was on leave from the Army.
During her life in Lakewood, Barbara held various office/secretarial jobs including her time as a Key Punch Operator at Lakehurst Naval Base. She had also accompanied Jerry to Fort Gordon-Augusta GA for his specialized training and was a secretary on base. The other years were spent working in the family business, Central Shoes, and raising their three children. Barbara was always a sun goddess, who loved family time at Point Pleasant "Beacon Beach Club" and Sundays on the boat.
After moving to sunny Ft Myers, FL in 1977, Barbara continued to work alongside her husband as they were always side by side. Snyderman Shoes behind the counter, Captiva Inn and Sasses restaurants with a wine glass in her hand sharing her warmth with patrons, many of whom became friends. She was involved with the Jewish Community through synagogues and sisterhoods, enjoyed the Gateway Womans Club, book club, and years of bowling, golfing and mah jongg. Sundays on the boat continued, where she was the ultimate First Mate and hostess. Barbara lived a full joyous life with Jerry, filled with cruises, vacations in Spain, North Carolina and Mexico and other travels, hosting friends at their home, attending charity and social events where her kindness and humor brought joy to everyone she met. To know Barbara was to love Barbara, as she was truly beautiful, inside and out. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend anyone could wish for, and will be missed dearly.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Snyderman, brother Harold Silver, step brother Joe Kovensky, and is survived by her sister-in-law Noreen Davis (Alan), brother-in-law Bob Snyderman (Laury), sons Richard “Rick” Snyderman (Gerianne) and Evan Snyderman (Eryn), daughter Robin Snyderman (David), grandchildren Brynn Drew (Ethan), Spencer Snyderman (Jennifer), Brooke Harris (Shawn), Samantha Snyderman, step grandchildren Olivia and Julia Loreaux, Gina Serrano (Eddie), Joey Mazzant (Jemma), Anthony Mazzant (Tiffany), great grandchildren Ellie Harris, Bryce Serrano, Mitchell Mazzant, and special cousins Ronny and Marie Taschner and their children.
Barbara's family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the tender care of her final arrangements. There will be a gathering Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, from 9:30-10:30AM with her funeral beginning at 10:30AM. Followed by a graveside service where she will be laid to rest aside her beloved husband Jerry.
