Barney Lipps' Obituary
Joseph Bernard “Barney” Lipps of Naples, Florida, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, in AVOW Hospice, Naples, Florida. He was 74.
He was born July 18, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky; the beloved son of the late Joseph and Emily Lipps. Barney worked as a Programmer / Analyst with OKI-Bering in Cincinnati, Ohio, was a member of VFW Post #7570 – Harrison, Ohio, and a member of the Northside Naples Kiwanis Club, Naples, Florida.
He proudly served in Vietnam with the U. S. Army 34th Engineers Heavy Combat Division. In 2019, Barney had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. with the Honor Flight Network where he visited the many memorials dedicated to those who served our country.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 sisters-in-law, Linda Straub, and Fran Cates.
Barney leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 52+ years, Margaret “Peggy” Lipps; his sister, Louisa (Joseph) Townsley of Bradenton, Florida; sister-in-law, Patricia (Gerold) Frey of Cleves, Ohio, and 2 brothers-in-law, William Cates of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Richard (Margy) Cates of Fayetteville, Ohio. He is also survived by 4 nieces, 4 nephews, 27 grand nieces and nephews and his loving friends and caregivers—the Eric Wingate family, Delina, Daniela and Christine.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined. Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is serving the family.
