Betty J. Callahan's Obituary
Betty J. Callahan, 84, of Fort Myers, FL died December 31, 2015 at Hospice House at Health Park, in Fort Myers. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private inurnment will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Betty was born May 9, 1931, in Star Lake, NY, the daughter of Earl and Catherine (Marshall) Benson. She married Charles J. Callahan, Aug 23, 1969 in Fort Myers at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Betty worked for United Telephone as a supervisor of accounting retiring after 26 years of service. She was a member of the Pioneer Club, and was an immaculate yard keeper. Surviving are her children, Mike Charles Callahan and his wife Myrtis of Fort Myers, Dan Callahan of Cape Coral, Diane Sweeney and her husband Michael of Fort Myers, John Callahan and his wife Rose of N. Fort Myers, Peggy Dilcher and her husband Jerry of Fort Myers; four brothers; three sisters; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and two sisters. The Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Betty.
