Betty Marie Eskelinen's Obituary
Betty Marie Eskelinen of Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully in Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, Florida. She was 76.Betty was born January 19, 1941 in Washington D.C.; the beautiful daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice Zichterman. She received her Bachelor’s Degree and was a proud graduate of the University of Maryland – College Park. After graduation, she embarked on a long and prosperous career as an advertising artist with the Washington Post. After her retirement, she moved to southwest Florida in 2002. Betty enjoyed exploring many art mediums including; watercolor paintings, stained glass, baskets, jewelry, ceramics and multiple other crafts. She ultimately became involved and was active in the BIG ARTS of Sanibel Island.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 49+ years, Ossi Tapio Eskelinen (September 9, 2012). Betty is survived by her son, Christopher O. Eskelinen; her brother, Harold Zichterman; nephew Joseph Zichterman and several grand nieces, nephews and friends.Memorial services will be held 11 am Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the Field of Honor of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Ossi.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hope Hospice 9470 HealthPark CIrcle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
