Betty C. Farquhar's Obituary
Betty Coberly Farquhar, 99, passed away February 21, 2014. She was born January 19, 1915 in Springfield, Ohio to the late John Kendall and Mary Elizabeth (Routzahn) Coberly. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald S. and daughter-in-law Marcia.Betty came to Lee County in 1971 from London, Ohio. She was a member and played piano and organ at First Presbyterian Churches in London, Ohio and Fort Myers, Florida. She played piano for the First Presbyterian Church (Fort Myers) Men’s Class as well as every week during meetings for the Rotary Club of Fort Myers. Betty also played in the church bell choir till she was 96 years old and sang in church choir at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers. She also taught organ lessons out of her home for 25 years.Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mary E. Litzenberg and her husband Lloyd of Fort Myers, Florida; Susan L. Miller and her husband Donald of London, Ohio; and Linda F. Phillips and her husband Max of North Fort Myers; son, Donald C. Farquhar of North Fort Myers; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.Services will be in London, Ohio which day and time will be announced soon. Interment will be in Kirkwood Cemetery in London, Ohio beside her husband Donald who passed in 1975.Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the First Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, 211 Garfield Avenue, London, Ohio 43140.
