Betty Jean Laferriere's Obituary
Betty Jean Laferriere, 79,?á of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Betty was born in Nashville, Tennesse on April 7, 1931 to Arnold Gentry and Flossie McClurkan, both deceased. She?áwas married to her loving husband, Wilfred, for 54 years. Betty enjoyed volunteering at her church, Gulf Coast Church of Christ.. She also sang in the church chorus (Alto) and was a greeter. After church, of course, then it’s time to cheer on the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Hurricanes.?áShe was a naturally gifted piano player. She loved to sew and?á cross-stitch. Though she had many interests and hobbies, Betty’s favorite past time was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind 3 beautiful children, Karen Schaefer of Vero Beach, Fl, Richard (Teresa) Bartley of Tampa, Fl, and Larry (Pam) Laferriere of Fort Myers, Fl. Betty is predeceased by her sister Anita Langdon. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Tina Parris, Gina Teixeira, Amber (James) Jurgens, Valerie Bartley, Rachel Laferriere, Kevin Laferriere and Becky Bartley; and her great grandchildren Aristan, Alyssa, Joey and Ricky. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 1-2pm at Gulf Coast Church of Christ.?áThe?áfuneral?á?áservice will start at 2:00pm. The entombment will take place Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, following the service at Church. Betty’s family requests that any memorials be sent to the Gulf Coast Church of Christ Building Fund.
