Betty June Robertson's Obituary
Betty June Robertson, age 94, of Palmetto Bay, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 4th,
2025. Betty “Bebe” Robertson was born on March 20th, 1931, in Lexington, NC to Jesse C.
Moffitt and Edna Satterfield.
Betty spent her early life in Eau Galle, Florida and graduated from Melbourne High School in the
Spring of 1949. After attending business college, Betty became a civilian buyer of plane parts
for the United States Air Force.
In a stairwell during her lunch break, Betty met James Neil Robertson at Patrick Air Force Base
in Cocoa Beach, FL. The two married in 1954 and settled in Palmetto Bay, Florida, where they
built a house and raised their three children: James Neil Jr. “Robby”, Randy, and Bonnie
(Etheridge). Betty remained devoted to Neil for 62 years, until his passing in 2016.
Betty was a homemaker during her children’s early years. She coached cheerleading and
softball, volunteered with the Girl Scouts, and was “team mom” to many of her kids' sports
teams. Later in life, Betty managed a specialty men’s clothing store called Scott Alexander on
Sunset Drive; she helped dress many of the talented athletes of the University of Miami.
Betty was an animal lover. She rescued and cared for countless pets throughout her life and
was a dutiful docent at the Miami Metro Zoo (Zoo Miami) for 30 years.
She loved sports, gardening, travel, and painting. She was a wonderful grandmother to her five
grandchildren, spoiling them with an endless supply of good food and entertainment — and she
never let a day go to waste.
Selfless and loving, Betty was a shining light to all, and she didn’t take things too seriously. She
had a radiant smile and a joyous chuckle, and her light and her love will live eternally in those
whom she cherished.
Betty is survived by her loving family: her son, James Neil “Robby” Robertson Jr. (Terri) of
Cooper City, FL; her son, Randy Robertson (Lauren) of Tampa, FL; her daughter, Bonnie
Etheridge (Scott) of Cape Coral, FL; and her precious grandchildren — Rachel Robertson
Brown, James Neil “Jamie” Robertson III, Rebecca Robertson, Sydney Etheridge, and Mitchell
Etheridge.
A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held for family and close friends at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Zoo Miami in her honor.
