Beverly Jane Haviland's Obituary
Beverly Jane Haviland of Fort Myers, FL (and formerly a longtime resident of Altamont, NY and Cape Coral, FL) passed away suddenly, but peacefully, with her loving husband by her side on Saturday, January 24, 2015. She was 78 years old.Bev was born in West Stockholm, NY on September 14, 1936 to Donald Otis and Beulah Rose McIntyre, and had siblings Barbara Jean (deceased) and Philip Otis.She graduated from Massena High School in 1953 and was married to Robert LeRoy Haviland in Massena, NY on February 2, 1957. She then graduated from Albany State Teachers’ College with a B.S. in Business and English in 1957 and an MS in Business Education in 1961. Bev taught at Colonie Central High School (NY) from 1957 through 1967.Bev had a deep love for life and a rich sense of humor that allowed her to thrive throughout her years and brightened the days of those around her. She loved cooking, singing and music, traveling, shopping, and playing cards with family and friends. Even when she was unable to speak with ease, she communicated clearly with her eyes, smiles, and laughter, and was always humming a tune.She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Robert; her children, Don Haviland and his wife Amy Holzgang and Sarah Whitman and her husband Dave; her brother Philip and his wife Lynne, as well as 10 nieces and nephews.A Memorial Service will take place on February 28, 2015 at 11 am at Hope United Methodist Church, 2006 Chiquita Boulevard South, Cape Coral, Florida 33991, (239) 574-5570.
