Beverly Irene McElroy's Obituary
Beverly Irene Simone McElroy of Cape Coral, Florida was born to life on May 17, 1925 and born to eternal life on January 5, 2026. Her life spanned 100 years of elegance, pragmatism, spirit, and grace.
Miss Beverly was born in Providence, R.I. where she met her future husband, Edward, a returning WW II airman, at a dance hall. Throughout their 60 year marriage, dancing remained a cherished part of their life together as they founded a successful business, Community Hearing Center, and moved to Cape Coral in 1965, part of the first wave of pioneers lured by endless canals and warm weather winters.
Hallmark movies, fresh cut flowers, a fashionable outfit, live theatre, a glass of Merlot, sunny weather, a good deal, Danielle Steel novels, bridge and Mahjong, a morning cup of coffee, puzzling, a good joke, and any thing chocolate were some of Beverly’s life pleasures.
She volunteered at her church, St Katharine Drexel, in many ministries – lectoring, visiting nursing homes, assisting at weddings, and teaching Faith Formation to children. She was a charter member of Palmetto Pine Country Club where she enjoyed many years of dining, golf, tennis, and modeling in fashion shows.
Ed and Bev traveled the country and abroad, visiting their children, their friends, and numerous popular tourist destinations. They relished time in Orlando and Sanibel Island at their timeshares and never seemed to get too old for Disney.
Beverly was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A loyal and a thoughtful neighbor. She loved her God and was always thankful for all His blessings throughout her long life. She will be dearly missed by her daughters Melody (Bill) Streeter of Racine, WI; Melissa McElroy Sparks of St Petersburg; daughter-in-law Jenny McElroy of Ft Myers; grandchildren Todd (Kristi) Streeter of Mt Pleasant, WI, Caleb Streeter of Evanston, IL, Megan McElroy of Ft Myers and Evan (Maggi) McElroy of Ft Myers. She is further survived by 4 great grandchildren – Landon and Aidan Streeter and Maya and Isabella McElroy. Beverly was predeceased by her husband Edward, son Christopher, son-in-law Jerry Sparks, special friend Bob Martin and many other dear longtime friends and neighbors.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on February 13 at 11 AM at St Katharine Drexel Church 1922 S.W. 20th Ave. Cape Coral. Those attending can visit with the family from 10 AM until the time of the service. Her ashes will be inurned beside her beloved husband in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
