Brett Alan Emerson's Obituary
Our beloved Brett Alan Emerson, 62, born on December 5th in Cincinnati Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 12th in Cape Coral, Florida.
Brett was preceded in death by his parents Phyllis Carol Emerson and Kenley Thomas Emerson, triplet brothers Barry Anthony Emerson, and Brian Ashley Emerson, nephew Brian Anthony Emerson, Uncle Robert (Bud) Addison and aunts Lucy Groger & Ruth Riley.
Brett is survived by his brothers Greg (Kathy) Emerson, Ty Emerson, wife of 33 years Tonya Becker-Emerson, daughter Brooke Ashley Marie (Kadarieus Burton) Emerson, sister-in-law Tracy Becker-Emerson, niece Amanda (Luke) Emerson-Jerkins, Gabbi Emerson, nephews Joshua Thomas Emerson, Kelly (Kelly) Wade Stoops, Lee Robert Emerson, great-nieces & nephews Jacob Jerkins, Connor Jerkins, Taylor Stoops, Kendyl Stoops and several cousins, as well as daughters chosen by heart Sarah Trainor and Cheyanne Barr.
Brett was a loving husband, a loyal brother and son, a fun-loving uncle, and a friend you could count on without question. He was a devoted father who would do anything for his daughter, and he was, in every sense, the best father a little girl could ask for. He stepped forward in every way, raising her to be the strong, outspoken, and proud woman she is today.
Brett had a smile that could light up any room, and he was a man of many words. That was Brett - bold, honest, loving and unforgettable. Whether you loved him, liked him, or didn’t always agree with him, you knew exactly who he was. His generosity knew no bounds, his compassionate heart, warm smile, and willingness to help others touched countless lives.
Music was his greatest passion; it wasn’t just something he did - it was who he was. Anyone fortunate enough to hear him sing or play guitar knew they were witnessing something special. He was an exceptionally talented musician who performed with several bands over the years. His voice carried such depth and emotion that it could move people to tears, and his gift for music brought joy and comfort to everyone who listened.
When he wasn’t making music, Brett found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved cooking meals for family and friends, spending peaceful days fishing and tending to his garden. Through his hard work and creativity, he transformed our entire yard into a beautiful landscape that reflects his love of nature and the pride he took in making our home a special place. He was also a devoted sports fan who never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Florida Gators, as well as the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.
Brett was taken from us far too soon. We will miss him deeply and remember him always. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love, kindness and sweet, sweet music that will never be forgotten. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that his song will never truly end. It lives on in every memory, every melody, and every life he touched. Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 1:00 PM at the inside hall of the Moose Lodge at 155 Santa Barbara Blvd N, Cape Coral, FL. We would love everyone to attend the balloon release that will occur at 3:27 pm.
Brett’s final resting place will be with his twin brother Barry & nephew Brian at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
