Bruce Forbes' Obituary
Bruce S. Forbes, 77, of Fort, Myers, Florida passed away Monday, November 1, 2010. He was the son of Rita and Thomas Forbes born March 29, 1933, in Portland, Maine. He grew up in Manchester, NH, where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Jeannine (Prince) Forbes. Together, they had two daughters, Stephanie Forbes and Kim Forbes McKean whom he was so very proud of and loved very much. Bruce proudly served in the United States Air Force and later retired from the Federal Aviation Agency as an Air Traffic Controller after 30 years of service. Bruce was an excellent and avid golfer and enjoyed teaching the game to his grandson, Scott. A life long athlete, Bruce loved all sports and was a devoted fan of all the New England Teams, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. A man with a great sense of humor and a competitive spirit, he always welcomed a friendly match and challenged himself to be his best. His competitive spirit lives on in his daughters and his grandchildren, Scott and Maddie McKean, who held a very special place in his heart. Bruce was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and enjoyed socializing with a special group of friends while playing cards and bragging about his grandchildren. Bruce is survived by his wife, his daughters, beloved grandchildren, son-in-law, Rob McKean, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elaine Seward, and his daughter, Stephanie?Çÿs, long-time companion, Michael Dumont. Family and friends are invited to a visitation held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, November 6th between 2:00-3:00 PM with a memorial service and dove release to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Bruce?ÇÖs name to the American Cancer Society.
