Burl J. Sizemore's Obituary
Dr. Burl J. Sizemore, of Fort Myers, FL passed away at his home, Wednesday, July 16, 2014. He was born in Toledo, OH to the late Otis A. Sizemore and Stella M. Baugh Sizemore. As a 5th grade student during WWII, he and his parents moved to Columbus, OH. Burl graduated from Bexley High School and was accepted to The Ohio State University where he received a B.A. Degree in Chemistry and both a B.S. and M.S. Degree in the College of Pharmacy. Dr. B. J. was a member of the S.A.E. Social Fraternity and Phi Delta Chi Professional Fraternity. He was also a member of the Pershing Rifles and the Scabbard and Blade Honor Societies. He was a 2nd Lt in the 147th Field Hospital at Fort Sam Houston, TX and a 1st Lt in the Ohio National Guard for 7 years. He was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, Florida Pharmaceutical Association, Ohio Academy of Pharmacy and the Gulf Coast Pharmacy Association – serving twice as its president. He also served as a member of the Southern Gulf Society of Health System Pharmacists, the Florida State Hospital Pharmacists and was the Pharmacy manager at the corner pharmacy on Sanibel for 19+ years. In addition to his parents, Dr. B. J. was preceded in death by his brother, Otis A. Sizemore, Jr. In 1957, he married Syliva A. Sizemore and they had three children. Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sharon A. James (Terry), daughter, Lorrie M. Sizemore-Hernandez, son, Burl Jeffrey Sizemore, Jr. and granddaughter, Morriah. A memorial gathering will be held 1:30pm – 2:30 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Blvd. Fort Myers, FL.
