Candace Lyn Butler, loving mother, sister, aunt, niece and creative artist, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Cape Coral, Florida, on October 19, 2012.?áMs. Butler was 61 years old.?á Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ms. Butler graduated from Withrow High School in 1969, and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Miami University (Ohio) in 1973.?áShe graduated from the Cincinnati Public School of Practical Nursing in the late 1970’s, and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Cincinnati until relocating to Cape Coral, Florida in 1987.?á Once in Cape Coral, Ms. Butler worked in various occupations in addition to nursing, but ultimately dedicated her life to raising her beloved son, Colby Butler.?áThough her professional life moved in different directions, the visual arts remained an important force throughout Ms. Butler’s life, resulting in countless expressions of creative energy.?á Most recently, Ms. Butler rededicated herself to painting.?áShe was an enthusiastic member of Cape Coral’s Arts for ACT organization, and offered her beautiful, vivid paintings for local shows and auctions.?áShe enjoyed creating paintings of special meaning to family members; those are treasured mementos of her creative gift. Art was her true passion in life and she finally got to follow her dreams late in her years.?áThis new beginning made Ms. Butler truely happy in her life for the first time in many years.?á Candace Butler was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Melva Butler.?áShe is survived by her son, Colby Butler; a brother, Terry Butler (Kathleen); two sisters, Holly Sander (Ron) and Cheryl Gustafson (Bob); an aunt, Miriam Brieg; a niece, Emily Cherney (Chad) and a nephew, Matt Sander; other loved members of the extended Butler family; and longtime friends.?á?á No memorial service is planned at this time.?áMemorial messages are welcome and may be submitted on the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery web site (www.fortmyersmemorial.com).?áIn lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association and the Cape Coral Humane Society.
