Carl Canby Graham's Obituary
Carl Canby Graham was born on July 28, 1929, the only child of Ida May (nee Lentz) and Carl Canby Graham, Sr., in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Haverford High School and earned a B.S. degree from Drexel, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He pursued a career in sales, first with Alcoa, and later with Anchor Hocking Corporation. He had an avocation as an actor, starting in Charleston, WV, where he was the President of the Board of Directors for the Kanawha Players during the 1970’s. He appeared in dozens of stage productions in Charleston, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Sanibel, and Fort Myers. He acted in several industrial films and commercials, and worked on eight feature films. He was a member of AFTRA, union of professional actors. In recent years, he loved to portray Dr. Seuss’s character “The Cat in the Hat” to promote reading to children at schools, libraries, and community events. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marilyn Long Graham, sons Carl and David, step-sisters Barbara Huber Norton and Elizabeth Huber Miller, brothers-in-law Daniel J. Long (Maureen) and Paul B. Long (Janet), cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Peace Community Church, 17625 Pine Ridge Road, Fort Myers Beach, on Sunday, August 16, at 3:00 p.m. Donation in his memory may be made to Peace Community Church, P.O.
