Carl Heaton's Obituary
Mr. Carl Heaton of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 27, 2017 at Hope Hospice, Lehigh Acres. He was 98. Carl was born May 7, 1918 in Tacoma Washington; the beloved son of the late Carl Edwin and Josephine Mandeville Heaton. Carl proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII entering the service August 4, 1940 in Seattle, Washington. He served aboard the USS Zeilin out of the Advance Naval Base Tulagi, Solomon Islands. He earned the American Area Medal, WW II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal (two stars) and the American Defense Medal. He was honorably discharged October 21, 1946. He worked as a teacher throughout his professional career. Carl is survived by his friend and caregiver, Paula Buck along with countless friends and neighbors. A graveside ceremony will be held in Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date where he will be laid to rest with U.S. Naval Military Honors.
