Carl Thomas Madison, Sr., 95, of Port Charlotte, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019. He was born July 7, 1924 in Morton, MS to William O. and Geneva (Lewis) Madison. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II from 1943 – 46 during which time he received a Silver Star for 5 major engagements, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and Citation and Navy Operations Medal. During the war he was a member of the 1st Occupational Force of Tokyo.He was a member of Printing Pressmen Union, the USS Indiana Reunion Association and was a former member of the Lee Plantation Men’s Club as well as the Lee Plantation Homeowners Association.Mr. Madison is survived by his wife of 70 years, Beatrice “Betty” Mae (Bunnell) Madison; his two sons: Carl T. Madison, Jr. (Carol) and Kyle W. Madison (Lynda); his grandchildren: Kyle W. Madison, II, Kala M. Madison, Allen J. Beatie, III and two great grandchildren: Bella and Shane Tobin. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Fred, Earl and Charles, and 3 sisters: Willie Mae, Betty and Bobby Jean.Memorial services will be conducted at 11: AM Monday, September 16, 2019 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with inurnment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: United States Navy Memorial, 701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20004 or https://www.navymemorial.org/general-donation.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.
