Carmela Giula Bufano Decker
July 9, 1929 – October 9, 2024
October 9, 2024, at age 95. Predeceased by her parents Angelo and Maria Bufano and sister Francesca. She is survived by her brother Ralph Bufano, her children Pamela Decker (Billy Barton), Catherine Decker (Brad Pfrommer) and W John Decker, grandchildren Jarrod & Megan Glaser and Alexandra Decker.
Carmela Decker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, after a difficult summer of health issues and impending evacuation for Hurricane Milton in Ft Myers, FL.
Born in Rochester, NY, Carmela was the cherished daughter of Italian immigrant parents and grew up with her sister Francesca and brother Ralph.
A graduate of Monroe High School and the Rochester Business Institute (RBI), Carmela went on to have a successful career as an Executive Administrative Assistant to the President of Burnett Inc. She was admired, for her dedication, professionalism, and grace.
Carmela met and married Walter F. Decker and together they raised three children: twin daughters Pamela, Catherine, and a son, John. As a family, they enjoyed sailing, skiing, and traveling. These passions filled their lives with many cherished memories.
The Deckers lived in Webster, NY, and later enjoyed their retirement as snowbirds in Fort Myers, FL. They were active members of Ski Valley, Rochester Yacht Club, Captiva Island Yacht Club and St. Charles Yacht Club. Their love for the sailing and skiing community was central to their life together.
Carmela was a devoted mother and grandmother to Jarrod, Megan, and Alexandra. She will be remembered for her words of wisdom, warmth, and strength. Carmela brightened the room with her warm smile. She will be much missed by all who knew her.
Carmela was a wonderful cook and gracious host who loved to entertain. She loved her family.
A service will be held for Carmela at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907 Where she will be laid to rest. November 9th at 11:00 am.
A celebration of life will be December 05, 2024 in Webster, NY at the Webster Golf Club from 5:30-8:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to IMFD Iona-McGregor Fire Department Station 74. (6061 South Pointe Blvd. Fort Myers, FL 33919)
