Carmen Charles' Obituary
Our beloved mother, Carmen Charles, 71, returned to her heavenly home on November 29, 2015 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.“Mont Carmen” affectionately called by many, was born to the late Louisaint Charles and Francila Cheruben, in C??tes-de-Fer, Haiti on January 5, 1944. Since her birth she was immersed in her Christian faith that would be her lifelong support from an early age.Carmen was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend, Antenor Antoine on June 28,1969 at the age of 23 years old and together they were the parents of eight children. After his untimely death in 1978, she migrated to the United States in 1981, where she later had two more children with Hoborame Davilus. She went on to raise her ten children, with patience, discipline, a great sense of humor and humility. As a single mother, she sustained her family on the faith and strength of God as she dedicated them for His will and purpose in their lives.Although never formally educated, she was an educator at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and can now join her beloved daughter Mona, husband and brother Carmelis. Her surviving family members are numerous but mainly include her nine living children, Louise-bonne and husband Gerald, Antenor and wife Mexita, Monique and husband Raymond, Willy and wife Jesula, Noe and wife Emilien, Camillo and wife Shadae, Cindy and husband Yvonel, Antoinette, and Wilma and husband Parry; several grandchildren, Rose Carmie, Joanna, Zhayhana, Jeremiah, Nailah, Anthony, Williams, Camille, Emilliona, Joshua, Jonas, Ca’melynce, Chesteni, Camille, Evens, Stordana, Olby, Shendra, Anthonide, Melchy, Raynaldo, Shilet, Michema, Jonsent, Jednie, Wilnick; siblings, Aubriant, Mesitha, Frasilia, Louisila: nieces and nephews, Marie Ange, Joseph, Isnick, Yvonette, Saintalis, Francina, Rozelle: several great nieces and nephews and numerous beloved cousins, in-laws, and God-children to list or count. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: Hope Hospice, Marc family, Vedrine family, Meme family, Agape Christian Fellowship, Plancher family, Osme family, Graham-Campbell family, Clervil family, Saintard family, Phillips family, Valcin family, Fleurimar family, Antoine family, Clark family, Lordeus family, Smith family, Couloute family, Davilus family, work families, and countless families and friends – either through prayer and/or visits, neighbors, and even random acts of kindness through total “strangers”.Visitation will be 4pm – 7pm Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907.
