Carmen Alicia Fulkerson's Obituary
Carmen Alicia Fulkerson, 88, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. Born on November 15, 1937, in Concepción, Panama, she was the beloved daughter of the late Luis and Sofia (Cerceno) Rojas.
In 1959, Carmen immigrated to the United States, embracing the opportunities and experiences of her adopted country. In 1987, she made her home in Florida after relocating from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she continued to build a life centered on faith, family, and friendship.
A woman of Christian faith, Carmen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting and expressing her creativity through art. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, loving nature, and the devotion she showed to those she held dear. Carmen’s quirky, eccentric personality was one of the first things people noticed about her, and one of the things they remembered most fondly. She had a way of being effortlessly, unexpectedly hilarious, bringing laughter to those around her without even trying.
Carmen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Perry John Fulkerson, who passed away in 2015. Together they shared more than 57 years of marriage, building a lifetime of cherished memories.
She leaves behind her loving children, John “Dave” Fulkerson and his wife, Cate, of Reston, Virginia, and Dot Hehr and her husband, Karl, of Cape Coral, Florida. She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, Sara, Amanda, and Alex, as well as her niece Lindy and nephew Rafa who will fondly remember her.
Funeral services are private at the convenience of the family. Carmen will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907.
