Carmine J. Marotta's Obituary
Carmine J. Marotta, 93, a cherished resident of Sanibel, Florida since 1996 and formerly of Staten Island, New York, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on April 1, 1931, in Staten Island, New York, to the late Anthony and Jeanette (Largo) Marotta, Carmine lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and community spirit.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Carmine served his country with honor. After his service, he became the owner and operator of Staten Island Sewing Machines and Repairs, a business he successfully ran for over 30 years, earning the respect and admiration of his community. Carmine’s laugh was truly infectious, and he always had a fun fact or joke ready to brighten the mood of all his friends and family.
Carmine was an avid tennis player, enjoying the sport both in New York and Florida. In Sanibel, he found joy playing at the Dunes Golf and Tennis Club, where he had a special fondness for court #3. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sal Marotta.
Carmine is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Diane Limeri of Sanibel, FL; one son, Anthony Marotta of Staten Island, NY; two step-children, Kenneth Limeri of Sanibel, FL and Jennifer Maita (James) of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Dorene, Daniel, Christopher and Julianna; seven adored great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Carmine’s Life will be celebrated 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Dune’s Golf and Tennis Club, 949 Sand Castle Road, Sanibel, FL 33957.
Carmine’s legacy is one of service, hard work, and a love for life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
