Carol Jean Brotherton's Obituary
Carol Jean Brotherton, of Fort Myers, passed peacefully on February 2, 2023. Carol was born August 29, 1946, to John Walter and Nancy Lee (Jackson) Simmons in Milwaukee, WI.
Carol has called Florida her home for over 40 years. Anyone who knew Carol would know her passion for helping many people. She spent many of her days helping in the coordination of the Special Olympics and helping the Lee County Park and Recreations with their special needs department. Aside from her love for helping her special needs friends, Carol enjoyed traveling. Her last trip was to her favorite destination.... Alaska. She had traveled many times to Alaska, and it was quite easy to find a reason to go!
Carol is preceded in passing by her Parents and loving husband of 26 years Joseph Brotherton.
Carol's loving memory will stay with her survivors, sister Wendy (David) Adkins of Seffner, FL, Nephew Matthew (Vickie) Adkins, great-niece Sophia, and great-nephew Ethan, and her brother David (Terri) Simmons of Holiday, FL, and niece Katie. Carol’s sweet girl Crystal Singleton and friends and families of the Special Olympics Community.
Carol's family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with her final arrangements. There will be a memorial service held for Carol on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 12PM.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donations in Carol’s memory to Lee County Special Olympics and Frieda B. Smith Cape Coral Special Populations Center
